Two Sundays back (25th June), early in the morning at 3:50am, I woke up
to get ready for a trek to Devkund waterfall (3.5-hour away from Pune) with a
group of people, including my dad. We reported at the bus pick-up point at
4:45am and off we went. I was sleeping almost the entire three-hour journey

...Teacher!
My piano teacher offered me an opportunity to teach piano theory lessons to her lower grade students. I was excited as I was waiting for an opportunity to teach piano if I could find a student (which never happened 😜) even after my efforts - advertising in my residential society. So I grabbed the opportunity at the first instance as I am confident of my teaching abilities.

With the teacher: Abhay Mathur sir
A couple of weeks back, I got a call from my uncle, asking me whether I would like to give a small talk about my experiences, at my cousins' school. I was hesitant at first but said yes anyways, while wondering how such an opportunity came my way. One of the teachers at my cousins' school, Mr. Abhay Mathur, got in touch with me; he wanted me to share my Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-78544862105438379452017-01-03T19:15:00.000+05:302017-01-03T19:15:30.362+05:30Trip to my grandparents' place
On the 27th of December, I started for Kakinada in a train, to visit my paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of course -- all of them arriving for a huge celebration. My grandparents' three children (including my father of course) hosted a function to celebrate the golden jubilee (50th) marriage anniversary of my grandparents and also the diamond jubilee (75th) of my grandfather. On Sunday, the 20th, my teacher Ms. Sonam Lodhi hosted a concert in Mazda Hall, at Pune. All of the participants (about 20) are my teacher's students. We practiced quite a bit for this concert since almost three-four months. This was my second concert (after one in Mumbai in Aug 2015). I was one of the senior-most students in this concert and I played two pieces - one solo, and one trio with my Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-37150811592514740242016-11-15T16:57:00.000+05:302016-11-25T16:57:43.484+05:30Viewing the supermoon!

After another whole year, Diwali came once again. This time we had no guests due to my important admission's exams being around the corner. You may have seen on the home page that I have taken a gap year from mainstream studies. One of the main reasons for the thought of taking a gap year was always my fitness. In my younger days, I was a very sick kid (I fell sick very often, often chronic). Although I have become healthier over the years, my parents have been worried whether or not I will be able to care for myself once I am on mySuhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-45186979023224349322016-08-31T13:30:00.000+05:302016-10-31T13:30:32.338+05:30Day 8: Completed Telescope!

Before the assembly:
I had already pre-ordered all the material that was required to assemble the telescope other than the mirror that I ground (the primary mirror). Previous Tuesday, I went to attend a lecture along with a friend, on gravitational waves and LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) at IUCAA (the same place where I ground the mirror for my telescope). This lecture was by an Australian professor visiting India for talk on LIGO India. Today, I went once again to continue polishing the mirror. I went with a target to complete polishing the mirror by the end of today. As soon as I reached, I started polishing the mirror with TOT and SW but, sir soon told me that I had done enough of TOT and so I switched the positions of the mirror and the fish tool to start MOT. He kept checking the mirror under a torchlight to see if the 'Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-59792600882264247602016-08-09T22:03:00.000+05:302016-08-09T22:35:07.441+05:30Day 6: Polishing!
Yesterday, although I was sick, I went to start the next stage of making my telescope - polishing the mirror after the grinding process was complete. I was excited in thought that this would be something different. But once I reached there, I realized that it was to be the same old grinding method, only with different materials. This process is done with a different tool (fish tool), not the Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-13887504138800945902016-07-26T20:08:00.002+05:302016-08-09T22:01:26.025+05:30Day 5: Grinding complete!
Yesterday, it was my target to complete the grinding process. As soon as I went to the place, I continued grinding with the 1200 grit that I had left the previous time. It was very very difficult to predict the right amount of grit to be used for grinding because if I use too much, I might scratch the mirror and on the other hand, if I do not use enough, the mirror will not grind sufficiently. Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-83793417602219919552016-07-26T13:26:00.004+05:302016-07-26T13:26:57.172+05:30Day 4: More grinding!
On the previous Friday, I went back to continue grinding my mirror and sure enough, everything was still there as I had left it a week ago. I had to start with the 800 grit as the previous time, I had completed the 600 grit and cleaned up the setup. I could clearly see the difference in the consistency of the grit as I was changing it each time. The higher the number, the less viscous the grit. The 6th of July, my parents and I set out on a trip to the Golden Triangle in Northern India. It is called the Golden Triangle because the three main tourist spots of this trip can form the vertices of a triangle - Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. So here goes my experience!:
Day 1: Travel and Delhi beaucoup!:
Early in the morning at 5:00am, I woke up to my mom's shouts... Both reluctantly and Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-48555592811299476432016-07-15T23:14:00.002+05:302016-07-26T12:55:21.844+05:30Day 3: ...and griding even more...
The sir who is helping me did not come today but, I still decided to go on grinding to complete the 600 grit. I was told yesterday that I should continue grinding the mirror in the same position and motion (TOT and SW). So, I did as I was told and surprisingly, I got the hang of it from the previous two days. I found the perfect concentration of the grit to apply on the mirror for grinding Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-25125926203548229862016-07-15T19:40:00.001+05:302016-07-18T19:18:54.084+05:30Day 2: Grinding more...
Yesterday was the second day of grinding the mirror for the telescope.
Right off the bat, I continued to use the 400 particle size grit for grinding but unlike Day 1, I had to use the mirror below and the tool on top (TOT position). So, basically, the mirror was being ground by the glass tool (The same motion as the previous day - the LW at first, but SW later). The LW is the motion in Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-21573556759973304832016-07-13T15:44:00.000+05:302016-07-16T12:48:51.483+05:30Day 1: Started making a telescope!
Yesterday was the first day of my 5-day telescope making process. I am under the process of making a 4-inch telescope. The first and the longest process of making the telescope is grinding the 4-inch mirror over another doubly-thick 4-inch glass tool. The process, as I realized after starting to follow it, requires much more strength and endurance than I thought earlier.
The process uses Suhas Darahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09173710525347345396noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1469681974705531655.post-31960126358490874412016-06-07T23:23:00.002+05:302016-06-08T10:22:55.443+05:30A trip to Sinhagad Fort
Throughout my schooling, I never had an opportunity to study Indian history rigorously as the IB syllabus channeled the humanities study to a more general and Western-based approach. My father always stresses on this fact that I am null at Indian history and mythology. I am now considering to read and know more about some important landmarks in the Indian history. After my classmates' and my exams were over on the 20th of May, we decided to go for a trip. It all started with far-fetched plans (as usual), and we finally concluded at going to Mahabaleshwar (a place about 120km from Pune). We booked a resort all by ourselves and it was a "no-adult (grown-up) trip". We started for Mahabaleshwar on the 23rd for a three day trip and here is how it goes:

Hello all!
It has been a really long time since I have posted on this blog. I was doing IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program) and I just finished my DP-2 (12th standard) examination this week. I did not have much spare time to tediously write blog posts (well, my parents would disagree to this...). I am looking forward to update this blog more frequently from now on.
