Today, I saw the International Space Station live from our building in Pune!! After my mom read IUCAA's facebook posting about ISS's visibility in the evening, mom and I went on top of the building to view it and we managed to be there just in time. I was very excited. We saw it between 6:50 pm and 6:55 pm gliding across the sky from southwest to northeast in Pune at an elevation of 81 degrees.
I read that the ISS orbits the earth at a variable height of 330-435 km from earth at a speed of 15.1 revolutions per day. Apparently, it is often seen from earth with naked eye but it was the first time for me...
