On
Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of August, I and my family for the first
time went to Mumbai - the financial capital of India for a pleasure trip. I was excited
to visit and see a metro city.
We started on Saturday morning at 6:45 to avoid later traffic. We were going to stay at my elder cousin's house in Kurla. I was the navigator, continuously looking at Google maps and then directions printout, then directing my father. We reached their house at 10:00. It was a wonderful journey early in the morning. We were welcomed over there. We got ready and chit-chatted for a while. We ate breakfast. We all did some works as it was morning. We went for a great lunch at Grilliopolis in Phoenix Market City. It was a yummy and heavy lunch.
Then as per my wish, we went to Amoeba which is a bowling centre. We played bowling for quite some time. Then we went to the famous sea-link road linking East and West Mumbai - two contrasting places! It started raining to make the view fantastic. By the time rain subsided, we got down the car, watched the view for some time and got back into the car to go home. All this time when we were going around in the car, we saw different heritage buildings which were very old - some were really old and some were under renovation. Maybe these were buildings of old British architecture! (This was the first time we used all the seats of our car!).
At home, one more game! We played caroms. It was fun playing it as a group and exchanging players! Then it was time for dinner! A very good 'appam' dinner. We chit-chatted more and also with my cousin who lives in New Jersey (it was his birthday). Then was sleep at night 11:00!
The next day was the same. We got up early in the morning to go to the next-viewing place. We got into a local train (famous in Mumbai for new people) and travelled to CSTM Railway Station in South Mumbai. The Station was wonderful. I came to know that it was constructed to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Then we were going to the long heard Gateway of India. I also came to know that it was made because King George V had entered India from that point. It was a wonderful building with pigeons all around us chattering food grains given to them. We then walked for around one and half kilometers to reach the famous Nariman point. This was the point where the terrorists had entered from during the Taj Hotel terrorist attack, also it had become famous at that time. We saw the sea view and was awesome. We walked around the jogging track, saw flowers, took pictures. Then we went around searching for a hotel to eat breakfast (it was still 10:00!). We ate in Shiv-Sagar and then went back home in the same route - boarding a taxi to CSTM and then getting onto the train and back home!
At lunch, we had exotic food made at house - tacos, garlic bread, hung curd, au gratin and ice tea. We had a heavy lunch. Then we played caroms for some more time, had a game of uno and started back for Pune.
En route, we went to my uncle's house in Khargar (Navi Mumbai). We spent three hours over there - eating snacks, playing uno and chit-chatting. We also saw my cousins' stamp and coin collections. We started back for Pune at night 9:00 and we were home at 11:00 at night. I was so tired that I climbed into my bed...
